This week, the D.W. Field Park Initiative released a new master plan that calls for ambitious improvements to Brockton and Avon’s beloved park.

This summer, teens worked at D.W. Field Park and Hancock Elementary School to complete service-learning projects that improve climate resilience and recreational opportunities in Brockton.

The phase 1 draft master plan for D.W. Field Park is available for the community to read and provide feedback.

On Sunday, May 19, our Give a Hoot About the Park event attracted nearly 200 people to D.W. Field Park. Despite considerable rain, friends and neighbors of all ages flocked to see live owls, enjoy free lunch, and chat with community vendors.

D.W. Field Park recently expanded by 30 acres, thanks to the nonprofit organization Wildlands Trust, the Town of Avon, the City of Brockton, public and private funders, and community support.

Wildlands Trust and Manomet are offering two paid service-learning programs for teens in Brockton this summer.

Over 200 donations from community members position the Town of Avon to add 30 acres to D.W. Field Park.

As we look forward to completing a master plan for the park, we reflect on the milestones we’ve reached over the past 16 months.

Local, regional, and state partners convened at D.W. Field Park in late August to celebrate new funding to expand the Initiative.
